Monk Q
(Proverbs 3)

["There's is nothing to fear but God."]

Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you!
Wear them like a necklace; write them deep within your heart.
Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will gain a good reputation.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will make your path straight.

For wisdom will enter your mind,
(Discretion will watch over you)
And knowledge will delight your heart
(Understanding will guard you)

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart
Don't depend on your own understanding
Seek His will in all that you do
And He will direct your paths

Don't be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the LORD and turn your back on evil.
Then you will gain renewed health and vitality.
Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything your land produces.
Then He will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with the finest wine

For wisdom will enter your mind,
(Discretion will watch over you)
And knowledge will delight your heart
(Understanding will guard you)

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart
Don't depend on your own understanding
Seek His will in all that you do
And He will direct your paths

Don't lose sight of good planning and insight.
Hang on to them, for they fill you with life and bring you honor and respect.
They keep you safe on your way and keep your feet from stumbling.
You can lie down without fear and enjoy pleasant dreams.
You need not be afraid of disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the LORD is your security

For wisdom will enter your mind,
(Discretion will watch over you)
And knowledge will delight your heart
(Understanding will guard you)

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart
Don't depend on your own understanding
Seek His will in all that you do
And He will direct your paths

["Why do you look to the things of this world as if they could help?"]

Repaid

Money's a hard master and a deceptive one
Possessions will possess you
Abundance becomes deficiency
Possessions will possess you

Money cannot provide any safety
You can't spend it when you're dead
Sacrifice integrity all your life
You can't spend it when you're dead

WHOEVER LOVES MONEY NEVER HAS ENOUGH

Money will become a deity
For a god you serve called "ME"
Furtive garroting of the helpless
For a god you serve called "ME"

WHOEVER LOVES MONEY NEVER HAS ENOUGH

Money can't answer your prayers
You cannot serve two masters
Money can't promise eternal life
You cannot serve two masters

SERVE GOD!
GENEROSITY WILL BE REPAID

Excerpt 1

there is a man
leaning up against a tree
with his arms outstretched as if to embrace me

in his hands he holds magazines
containing things I should not have seen

these i gave him to hold for me
as i pound
on the nail in his feet

[But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  (Isaiah 53:5)]

Sponge

[All words by Pastor Mark Driscoll from the sermon "Jesus’ Crucifixion and Death"]

"They did something that was most shameful to Jesus. I didn't learn it until I was in Ephesus in Turkey at an archaeological dig.

There was an open area with some forty-plus toilets. It was one of the first ancient public restrooms. There were no stalls, everyone sat out in the open on these marble slabs: toilets. The aqueducts would deliver the water underneath. They didn't use toilet paper and so there would be a trough of water that would proceed in front of the person who was using the toilet and they would use it to clean themselves.

What happened then is that some of the peasants and poorer slaves realized that there was potential income here so they got one of the many sea sponges, put it on a long stick, they would slop it in the water and they would use it to clean the person who was using the public restroom. These sponges could be used for hundreds of people in a day.

The Bible tells us that when Jesus was hanging on a cross, they offered Him what?

A sponge.

It was that sponge.

It was that sponge."

Sons Of Hell

Matthew 23

["Yours is a house of desolation! The home of the lizard and the spider! Serpents! Brood of vipers! How can any of you escape
damnation?"]

The Kingdom of Heaven you shut in man's face
and you won't go in, since you only act like you're chaste
Converting people away from the Lord
to be like yourself while their needs are ignored
The outside of the cup and the dish are washed clean
While inside they are full of self-indulgence and greed
White washed tomb

["You are like whited sepulchers, all clean and
fair without, but within full of dead men's bones and all
corruption!"]

You serve a religion that can only condemn
when you follow the traditions of men
Following details like the tithe you should give
while what's important; justice, mercy, and faith are not lived

The outside of the cup and the dish are washed clean
While inside they are full of self-indulgence and greed
White washed tomb
The outside of the cup and the dish are washed clean
While inside they are full of self-indulgence and greed
White washed tomb

On the outside you appear to people as righteous
but inside you lives hypocrisy and all wickedness
You have claimed to learn from past history
and yet you still seek to kill the godly

The outside of the cup and the dish are washed clean
While inside they are full of self-indulgence and greed
White washed tomb
The outside of the cup and the dish are washed clean
While inside they are full of self-indulgence and greed
White washed tomb

Just like a tree that doesn't bear fruit
is the Word of God that doesn't take root
Thrown into fire is a fruitless tree
just like man for his sanctimony

Ideas Have Consequences

Do you know what you believe, more importantly, why you believe it?
Truth corresponds to reality and not how one perceives it.
Come, let us reason together
"A" cannot be "Non A" at the same time in the same way
So what's true for me is true for you
Since opposites can't both be true

Test all things. Hold fast that which is good.

There is a way that seems right to men, but in the end it leads to death

How is it possible to know that we cannot know truth?
Is it really true that there is no truth?
If all truth is relative, isn't that just relatively true?
You can't go right and left at the same time: make up your mind

[Sow a thought, reap an act
Sow an act, reap a habit
Sow a habit, reap a character
Sow a character, reap a destiny]

There is a way...
There is a way that seems right to men, but in the end it leads to death

Some say that truth is relative, but an absolute statement they give
That "truth's relative for everyone"
Such self-defeating notions, shun!

Test all things. Hold fast that which is good.
Ideas have consequences

Control

there is no wisdom
no insight
no plan that can succeed against the Lord
above every ruler
and manifest much fuller
is His mercy

GOD IS IN CONTROL

forests burn down
to charred ashes on the ground
and yet they grow back
the birds of the air
are never in despair
about what they'll eat

God's the provider
the sustainer of life
He loves all He creates
His Word contains the promise
that He said He'd never leave us
or forsake us

GOD IS IN CONTROL

the pain that you may feel
like broken bones will heal
in the Lord's time
looking back upon the past
times of trouble didn't last

they've been forgotten
those who go out weeping
carrying seeds to sow
return singing with their sheaves
He might seem far away, but look back to yesterday
He never left you

GOD IS IN CONTROL
